Inspired by all the creativity and DIY ideas out there, this blog is a journal of my attempts to "Do it myself". I'll keep you updated on my progress with posts, photos, inspiration, randomness and the likes . . . and probably the occasional frustration along the way.

Caffeinated Crafter

First Project!

My first official project! Unfortunately, I got so busy that I did not do a before, during and after post like I intended, so this is an all-in-one post about the whole project.

First, a little background. Last year my Uncle gave me a 10-year journal. I never actually started writing in it (even though I had good intentions to start it). Seeing as the New Year is right around the corner, I thought it would be good to start a daily journal. As much as I loved the idea of the journal, I wanted something that was a little more creative. I stumbled across this idea and thought this would be perfect. So here are a few photos of my before and after.

The Materials:

Recipe Box - I got this at the local Bed, Bath & Beyond. It was perfect for the index cards.

Index Cards

Postcards - I used ones that I’ve received from family and friends

Stamps and ink

The date cards took a little longer than expected since I used individual letter and number stamps instead of an actual date stamper. But I love the look so it was worth the extra time.

I used postcards from friends and family as dividers for each month. It definitely adds a more personal touch.

Here’s a photo of the (almost) completed project. I still want to decorate the box somehow, but I’m in the process of brainstorming ideas of what that will look like.

I also bought different colored markers to use for each year.

Overall, this project only took an hour or so. If you don’t want to spend that much time, I recommend using a date stamp instead of individual letter stamps.

Hope you enjoy this first post and Happy New Year!
